Dear Readers, I offer my sincere apologies for not posting for so long! A new job, and lots of projects are to blame. But I have vowed to be much better about posting and showing off all the fun things I have been working on. What follows is a recap of the last few months! I have been learning how

My C&P Turns 100 this year!

I finally got around to photographing the serial number on my press so that I could look up when it was made. Low and behold, I found that this year is the centennial of my press’s birth! The serial number on these presses is found on the upper left hand corner of the chase bed. Mine reads D51051. The Chandler

I have been so busy trying to make enough inventory for my upcoming shows that I have been extremely lax in adding those items to my Etsy Store. Well, I am happy to say I have finally gotten my latest Thank You Cards listed on Etsy! Here they are in all their glory! The design for this card was inspired

About Page Live on Etsy

Months after Etsy released the option to add an About page to shops, I have finally gotten mine done! I know, I know. It shouldn’t have taken me so long. But I’ll use the excuse that I just had so much printing to do! 😉 … [click on image to see the full About Page] ~ It feels really nice

Elk Notes

In my last post I mentioned that I had a new notepad design coming up. Well, here it is! The image on the cover is from an antique letterpress block I purchased on Ebay. It all began with a silly parody poem, and ended up being a fabulously fun printing project. A parody of the infamous ‘Baby Got Back’ verse by Sir Mix-a-Lot, the text reads, “I like

This February has been full of firsts, not the least of which was my first set of custom letterpress business cards. I made them for my sweet and wonderful friend Jina. This simple project turned out to be much more than I bargained for. After setting the type and owl design, and getting it just right in the chase, the

Girls on Presses

I spent today pulling apart the motor on my C&P. Well, Doug was the brains of the operation, but I added some much needed muscle. I want to slow the press down, so I need a new pulley for the motor. Now everything is torn apart and I just have to wait for the mail-order parts to arrive. Bah. While we

Kelsey Restoration Update: Roller Hooks

Recently Doug and I finished making new roller hooks for the Kelsey press. The old hooks were both bent out of shape, and visibly worn down inside the hook area. Yet again I find that I forgot to take making-of photos for this step, but I hope finished product photos will do. In the picture above, the top hook is
